Childs
garden of verses By Robert Louis Stevenson (1850-1894)
first published in 1885, illustrated in 1947 Tasha Tudor.
Childhood may have seemed more intense and prolonged for Robert Louis
Stevenson, as he was then often ill and confined to bed with his
thoughts. Tasha Tudor has long been an admirer of his works, and was
delighted to have the job of illustrating this collection of verses
for children. Condition: Early edition (but not
first) Dust jacket shows soiling and age, but is complete and in good
shape minus a few tears along top (on back) and bottom of flap is
clipped. Scattered age spots on pages and endpapers with foxing to
page edges. Spine is softened and edges of boards worn at corners.
Signed by Tasha Tudor. |

Corgiville
Fair In this perennial favorite, Tasha Tudor has woven
a highly imaginative story from various themes, events, and
circumstances of her life--New England towns and county fairs, corgi
dogs, cats, goats, and a peculiar Swedish troll species known as
Boggarts, which entered her house as little toys soon to be imbued
with slightly naughty characteristics. The illustrations are copious
and lively. First published in 1971. Condition:
Dust jacket shows wear, interior very good. Spine softened a
bit. This book has rested under Tasha's hand twice; signed and
inscribed once "Best wishes Tasha Tudor and Corgyn, 1978 and
again more recently "Greetings! Tasha Tudor" |

County
fair 1940 Written and illustrated by Tasha Tudor, who
was brought up around County Fairs. She won prizes for her bread and
other foods as a child. The County Fair is one of the five so-called
Calico Books in which little Sylvie Ann is featured. This is very much
drawn from family experiences mixed with wishful imagination, and
gives a good picture of fair events as seen through the eyes of a
child. Wonderful illustrations all in color. |

The Dolls'
Christmas "Christmas is a special time at Pumpkin House,
where two dolls live. Every Christmas they invite their friends to
join the for an elegant dinner arty and a marionette show. The
dolls have fun getting ready for their party: they send out
invitations to their guests by Sparrow Post, decorate their very own
Christmas tree with silver nutmegs and golden pears, and prepare
doll-size cookies and other treats for the party." |

Dolls'
Christmas 1950 When this book was
written and illustrated, Tasha Tudor and four children, ages several
months to ten years. Life was not easy on the run-down New
Hampshire farm, but hard work never daunted Tasha Tudor. She often
used family, pets, and holiday activities as source material for new
books. The Dolls' Christmas is about real events. Each year we did
indeed have the traditional cookie making, marionette show, and a
miniature tree with presents to and from the dolls.

Edgar
Allan crow Written and illustrated in 1953 by Tasha
Tudor. This book, like many of Tasha Tudor's earlier works, is based
on real experiences with farm or household creatures; in this case a
tame crow who really was a wonderful pet (or pest) and did almost all
the acts described in the book. This book went through only one
printing, and as such, is very hard to find and coveted. Condition:
Dark navy boards with a paste-on label; no dust jacket. Edges of board
worn, age spots and discoloration throughout. Spine slightly cocked.
There is a small area on paste-on label that has been lifted off, as
if a sticker had accidentally adhered. Signed by Tasha Tudor. |
