We had lovely weather this year for our June Secret Gardens Tours. We welcome this weekend each year with great anticipation, looking forward to new friends, old friends, invigorating conversation, and delicious Stillwater Punch from Tasha's cookbook. Everyone gathers from afar, bringing with them the stories that drew them to Tasha. Here are a few of my favorite pictures from the weekend...

On a partly-sunny day, when the skies are heavy with impending rain, but the sun refuses to be entirely hidden, the greens around Tasha's house are stunning. The leaves offer a hundred shades of green when the sunlight teases us and catches the dew.

Though the snow is on the ground spring is near. The trees are budding against the full moon, and the days are longer. Yet spring in the hills of New England is relative. It is near, only in that it may be seen from afar, rather than not at all.

Seed collecting is a time-honored, and time-consuming, process. But rewarding, as are so many old-fashioned pursuits. There is a pleasant beauty one can find in such a task. Amy Tudor, Tasha's granddaughter-in-law, as I'm sure you all know, has agreed to share her process.
  • Receiving a Valentine's card is that much more exciting when the mailbox it is delivered to was built especially for the occasion. In this image the green garden and cheerful scene show the size of the mailbox is as large as one's imagination can make it. This is a sweet scene of Valentines Day in a green garden with doves, flowers, children, cat, corgi, and special mailbox. Size: cards are 5" x 5 3/4" with 5 x 7 envelopes to avoid extra postage when mailing. Interior: Blank. Single card/envelope. Printed in USA.

Snow horses are a mainstay of winter, but only visit when the snow sticks properly. Tasha called it sugar snow, as it often falls around the time sap runs in the sugar maples. It sticks to all the branches of the trees and collects in great heights upon tops of fence posts and birdfeeders.

It is such an exciting day when the mail holds Sparrow Post valentines! Opening the mail requires a special cup of Tasha's Hot Chocolate.

We hope you had a great Valentine's Day and George Washington's Birthday!

Now that we've enjoyed the February holidays, our attention tends to turn towards spring and Easter.
