Every June, on Midsummer's Eve, we hold a splendid celebration known as the Stillwater Party. Stillwater is the name thought up by my younger son and me for a mock New England sect combining Shaker, Amish, and Quaker qualities. The Stillwaters believe that life should be enjoyed and appreciated and Nature revered.
So many of us are drawn to Tasha’s philosophy on living. Not every life has to be one of hustle and bustle. We partnered with The Posy Collection to create a new sampler incorporating Tasha's illustrations and her feeling that “there is no peace that cannot be found in the present moment.” Bring Tasha's gentle encouragement into your day while you're stitching this sampler and when the finished piece is displayed in your home.
For the Tasha Tudor collector who has everything, we are pleased to release four signed titles from our archives this holiday season. The books now available include The Night Before Christmas, Corgiville Christmas, Tasha Tudor's Garden, and The Tasha Tudor Cookbook. While supplies last.
Many, many people were first introduced to Tasha through her Christmas cards. For 30 years, she illustrated at least ten new cards each year and this large body of work overflows with heartwarming family celebrations, wonder at nature, New England villages, children with animals and more.
In 2007, Tudor fan Sandi shared with us that her daughter Alanna had been diagnosed with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. Without hesitation, we sent her two books: Tasha Tudor’s Garden and The Private World of Tasha Tudor, hoping Tasha’s wisdom might provide moments of comfort through the difficult days ahead of them.
As Tasha Tudor's birthday of August 28th approaches, we are talking and dreaming about how we will celebrate this year. In 2008, Clarice Fox-Hughes anointed August 28th as Tasha Tudor Day saying “Really I would love if the whole world would stop and remember her. This could simply be sitting in your garden with a cup of tea, reading her books, doing a sketch or just stopping and smelling the roses. Let us all on Tasha Tudor's birthday remember her and all she has inspired us to live.”
As mentioned in our last email, we are offering six out-of-print titles from our archives this holiday season. The signed titles now available include The Dolls' Christmas, Give Us This Day, The Lord is My Shepherd, Drawn from New England and The Springs of Joy. The sixth title is The Private World of Tasha Tudor, unsigned copies only. Supplies limited.
Over twenty years ago, we started this family business with six new art prints and a collection of hard-to-find used books. Our business continued and every time I came across a new-to-me title, the treasure in my hands glowed with a beckoning joy. Within a few years, I was fortunate to have held a copy of each of Tasha’s nearly 100 titles which stretched all the way back to a 1938 first edition Pumpkin Moonshine.
